Painting during COVID 19 isolation
COVID 19 Wow, how that word has changed the world as we know it.
Social distancing, face masks, gloves, and isolation.
It's May 11th, 2020 and we continue to social distance and isolate ourselves. March 11th I was told we
were closing the office where I work, for the protection of ourselves and our patients from the COVID19 virus until we
can safely practice.
Part of me was happy to have some free time to paint and do things that I don't normally get to until it's too much to ignore,
like deep cleaning, clearing out of things that Marie Kondo wants you to be happier and lighter without.
And the best part, painting, getting some real painting time in.
The best laid plans always change I suppose and now it's more about just maintaining a positive attitude and doing something
that keeps me grounded and not nervous and worried for my family, friends, the community and myself getting this dreaded virus. It's a scary sad thing; I believe the death toll now is around 80,ooo in the US.
Many good things have happened through this and a big one is the real appreciation of the healthcare heroes in our community, frontline people that continue to help all that are in need; move over stars we give such adulation for short time entertainment. Our doctors, nurses, first responders and the people in the grocery store and other workers I am unaware of that are putting their lives on the line.
I Thank You All !!!
Painting takes another step in processing this. To create and be in the studio with my thoughts of the future continues to make me nervous ,but today it's sunny and it's spring my dogwood is blooming and things are coming out of the ground. I can only think of what can I do today to be better for the world my family, friends and community, however that unfolds.
I pray this does not continue, we come out with a better appreciation of each other and the world that we use without regard.
Be better stewards of each other, not eating animals, check our egos and know we are not separate from each other or the earth.
